The fastest CRM Quick Win you've probably skipped

Most CRMs have the data. Most teams don't see it. A nightly Slack rollup of the deals-stuck-in-stage is a half-day build that changes Monday standups.

The pattern

Every night at 7pm, a job runs. It pulls deals that are stuck in any stage for more than 5 days. It formats them as a Slack message and posts to #deals-stuck. Your team reads the report the next morning in standup.

The CRM has the data. Your team lives in Slack. The connection takes 30 minutes to set up. Most teams don't do it.

The build

The pattern is straightforward.

Step 1: Create a filter in your CRM. Filter for deals where the stage_updated_at timestamp is more than 5 days old AND the deal is not in a terminal stage (won/lost).

Step 2: Every night at 7pm (or whenever your team isn't working), trigger a Lambda or Zapier or native workflow that:

  • Pulls deals from the filter
  • Groups them by rep
  • Formats them as a Slack message with the rep name, deal name, deal size, and current stage
  • Posts to your #deals-stuck channel

Step 3: Set it and forget it. The message shows up every morning.

What does the message look like? Here's an example:

Deals stuck longer than 5 days (updated daily at 7pm)

Sarah's deals: 3 deals, $1.2M

  • Acme Corp - $400K - Proposal - stuck 7 days
  • TechFlow - $300K - Qualification - stuck 5 days
  • NewCo - $500K - Negotiation - stuck 9 days

Mike's deals: 1 deal, $200K

  • GlobalServices - $200K - Prospecting - stuck 8 days

That message takes 30 minutes to build and shows up in 300 conversations every Monday morning.

What changes Monday

Your standup changes. You're no longer asking "What's stuck?" because you already know. You're asking "What's your plan for the three deals that didn't move?" which is a different conversation.

The rep isn't guessing which deals to prioritize. They're looking at the same Slack message the rest of the team is. The conversation becomes: should we move this to lost, or do we have a real plan to move it forward this week?

Your forecast accuracy improves because deals don't disappear for 6 months and then show up as a surprise loss. You're seeing them stuck in real time.

The reps don't like it at first (their stuck deals are visible). But 2 weeks in, they realize they're closing more deals because they're seeing what's actually stuck instead of guessing.
